Originating from Switzerland, the Valais Blacknose were first imported into the UK in 2014. They are becoming increasingly popular because of their distinctive markings which has earned them the title "The Worlds' cutest sheep!" and their pleasant nature which makes them good to handle.

The Valais are a long wool sheep which require shearing twice a year. The main use of the fleece is for felting and carpets. In Switzerland the Valais are a dual purpose sheep, bred for their meat and wool. However in the UK because of their high value they are rarely on the menu!
